Who are the members?

Membership in the League of Women Voters, the most respected and effective grassroots organization in the country, is open to men and women of all ages. Our members make a visible difference by serving as community leaders using their experience to create positive, lasting change in our communities.

Why should I join?

Through participation in League projects, you will:

• contribute valuable service to the community

• gain knowledge and experience through the study and discussion of timely and important topics

• discover new interests, develop new skills and learn about crucial issues in your community
  make professional contacts and develop lasting friendships as you meet others in League who share your interests
  
  

How much time does it take?

It's up to you! Many members choose to support the League only with their annual dues. Your membership alone gives us the political influence needed to build a voice for citizens and a force for change. We cover a broad spectrum of issues and concerns; you may choose to become involved in one or more of them by actively participating in a group study, volunteering for a specific activity, listening to a panel of experts at a meeting or just reading about them in one of our publications.

What do I get?

You automatically become a member of LWV Colorado and LWV of the United States. You will receive their publications along with our quarterly newsletter, The Voter. You have access to our website with an event calendar, blogs, national/local news and other helpful information. You will have the knowledge that you are adding your voice to a powerful force of members from all 50 states, Washington DC, the Virgin Islands, and Hong Kong.

How do I join?

Dues
You choose how much to pay for your membership dues. Yearly dues are $75, the minimum is $20.  You are able to pay as much as you can afford. Dues are split among the national league (33%), the Colorado league (47%), and the Uncompahgre Valley league (LWV-UV) (20%).

Donations (“Additional Membership Contribution”)
You have the option to make a donation directly to LWV-UV. Your generous donation will help us maintain the level of programming that you have come to expect from our local league.

If you prefer writing a check, make it payable to LWVUS. We will forward your check to the League of Women Voters of the United States. Mail your check to LWV of the Uncompahgre Valley, PO Box 3321, Montrose, CO 81402.

Annual membership expires one year from the date dues are paid.

Membership Levels

• Individual - $75 suggested but pay what you can. The minimum is $20.
• Household $105 – Two members in one household. The first member pays $70, the second member pays half, i.e. $35.
• Students- FREE (your student status must be verified)
• LIFE - any person who has been a League member for 50 or more years is exempt from dues payment. 
• Whether you are joining or not, we would appreciate a donation beyond regular dues. Donations must be a separate transaction, so that they will go directly to our local League. Use the donate button, or mail a check payable to LWV-UV, PO Box 3321, Montrose, CO 81402.
